She's Not My Type

Since Donald Trump became president, the outrages come on basically a daily basis. Whether it's the treatment of immigrants, the destruction of the environment, the cuts in education, or any one of several other areas, Trump is the Orwellian president of our nightmares.

One area remains most baffling to me, as is not political, and that is his treatment of women. He is a first-class misogynist, and no amount of praising him as God's choice for president erases his history of abuse. His seduction technique, "Grab 'em by the pussy," is on tape, and it is established that he had sex with a porn star while married. He boasted of regularly entering the dressing room of Miss Teen USA contestants, some of them minors, and seeing them undressed. The religious right has been contortionists on this issue, as with any other person, especially a Democrat, it would be a damning set of circumstances

Trump has also been accused of sexual assault by seventeen women. The latest is writer E. Jean Carroll, who claims that Trump assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room back in the '80s. Trump's first response was that he didn't know her, but the photo above disproves that. His next response was so vile that it really shows the morality of the man--"she's not my type." That asks the question, what is his type for rape?

That Carroll has written a book may give some doubts, but really, what is to be gained by making these accusations? Can you name any of the other sixteen women who have accused him? It didn't make them rich or famous. And that Carroll has received death threats goes to show the reason why women don't come forward, or wait decades to do so. And two other women have come forward to say that they knew about this assault back when it happened, so she didn't create it new for this book.

Of course she's telling the truth. Is there any reason not to believe her? Based on Trump's statements and actions, he is a sexual predator who thinks he can get away with anything. I just wish there was some way for one of these women to press charges and take him to court, or at least get depositions out there. It's also time for these allegations to get more press, and for the country to stop shrugging our shoulders when these accusations are made. It's not business as usual. I'd venture to say that Donald Trump is the only president we've had who has committed sexual assault.
